Lankershim Projects

There is a lot of construction going on on Lankershim Boulevard as Universal prepares for the new 500 room hotel.

Since our last Lankershim Boulevard update, it appears that substantial progress has not been made.

Not a lot of progress has been made here. A temporary sign points guests in the direction of the Sheraton Universal.

The construction extends all the way down to the tram loading zone with a temporary pedestrian walkway in place.

Parking Structures

Universal has taken on a huge project with the new parking lot structures, with the entire endeavor being among Universal’s largest construction projects on the lot. The construction is inching along at a slow, but steady, pace.

With the Grinchmas season over, the traffic has become much more manageable despite all of the construction. Here’s a glimpse at their progress.

Pavement has been put down on the newest level since our last update. It also appears that they have begun working on another level in the background.

Traffic is still being diverted to the Frankenstein and Curious George parking lots.

Another look at the progress Universal has made since our last update. It seems that they are moving much more quickly now that Grinchmas is over.

CityWalk Hollywood – Things From Another World

Things From Another World has officially begun its move to the previous Game Stop location, as we initially reported last September.

With a much bigger venue, it will be exciting to see the changes that happens to Things From Another World. For now, we have some great facade teasers for what to expect.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

With all the progress being made to Wizarding World of Harry Potter, it is hard to believe we still have to wait another year. Here we have another glimpse at what we can expect in Hogsmeade and Hogwarts.

A temporary sign has been put in place to help with Shrek 4D crowd control as the line is diverted through the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Somewhat surprising that Nestle is still sponsoring the attraction in the midst of all this work.

The entrance to Hogsmeade is making a lot of progress. We now have a large walking space between Production Central and Hogsmeade.

Foot traffic is still being funneled between the Simpsons ride and Wizarding World. However, we now can see the new Studio Tour entrance sign hidden behind construction walls.

Springfield

With Springfield’s opening only a few months away, Universal has made some drastic progress.

With progress, however, comes foot traffic diversion; both a blessing and a curse. Guests are now routed between Special Effects Stage’s queue as the main block remains blocked while Universal works on transforming the former Louie’s structure. Let’s take a look!

Traffic is now being diverted through the Special Effects Stage queue area. In the morning, the congestion was not terrible. However, as the afternoon went on and the crowds increased, it became absolute madness in this small area. There was an employee directing traffic every five feet.

Some Simpsons-like signs have been placed around the construction walls to help guide guests to their locations.

Fast and Furious: Supercharged

Fast and Furious: Supercharged is coming 2015 and it is very clear that we have something great to look forward to.

With most of the exterior work finished, we can only guess what is going on inside!
