Universal Orlando has announced that Nightingales: Blood Pit, a new original haunted house, will be featured at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights 29.

Guests will be transported to ancient Rome where they must escape the gladiator arena as the bloodthirsty nightingales begin to feed on the dead and dying. But with nothing to protect them, will they make it out alive or become part of history…

According to Universal, the story of the house finds us in Ancient Rome and is suffering its worst drought in centuries. The ruthless emperor has declared the gladiatorial games to continue nonstop until the rains return. As the blood soaks into the earth, the nightingales feed on the dead and dying. Guests will try to survive alongside the gladiators as the ravenous nightingales tear into their victims and notice that fresh blood has come into their midst…

Originally featured during Halloween Horror Nights 21’s haunted house, Nightingales: Blood Prey – Nightingales are carnivorous banshees that are able to transform themselves to fit any setting, feeding on the weak and the helpless. During the 2011 event, the house was set along the trenches of the Western Front during World War 1.
