We’re back with February’s photo update around Universal Studios Hollywood! This month, we take a look at progress on the multiple construction projects throughout the park.

Let’s get started!

CityWalk Hollywood

On the upper level of CityWalk, the former location of Howl at the Moon remains empty.

NBC Sports Grill & Brew continues construction, though without any major changes since our most recent update.

Progress continues on the transformation of the shuttered Hard Rock Café into Toothsome Chocolate Emporium. Some Hard Rock signage remains on various windows throughout, while themed walls advertising Toothsome have sprung up around the entire perimeter of the building.

Universal Cinema has received an exterior advertising Blumhouse Productions’s newest film, The Invisible Man.

Significant construction continues on the lengthy refurbishment of IT’SUGAR, though without any visible changes to the public eye.

The previous location of Sublime Gifts & Finds remains untouched.

The iconic Universal Studios Hollywood sign is currently being repainted and touched up, in anticipation of the upcoming spring break and following summer crowds.

The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash!

Walls have come down on Pets Place, and nearly all of the storefronts lining the street have been revealed. Faux pedestrian crosswalks line the street as The Secret Life of Pets and New York-inspired music plays on a loop throughout. The entrance to the virtual line for the attraction has also been revealed, themed to look like a New York subway station.

Attentive guests will find references to both of The Secret Life of Pets films, as well as a nod to the former attraction, Terminator 2: 3D.

The family “dark ride” has received a grand opening date of March 27, and an official height requirement of 34”. A new sign has been placed on the front of the building, a digital sign has been installed out front to display future wait times, and a test ride vehicle remains hidden under a sheet from guest view.

The Palace Theatre Café, Cinnabon, and Mulligan’s bar have all received new, vibrant paint jobs matching the equally colorful buildings around on Pets Place.

Lower Lot

Construction has rapidly progressed on the major show building for the unannounced attraction on the Lower Lot. The inside of the building is currently being closed off from the elements, while work also continues up top and all throughout the surrounding site.

Jurassic World: The Ride Refurbishment

As of February 18, Jurassic World: The Ride has been closed for refurbishment. We speculate that the attraction will be closely for roughly one month, as finishing touches are added to the ride. However, in the meanwhile, the giant Jurassic World sign has been returned to the main show building of the ride.

A Little Bit of This and a Little Bit of That

Universal Plaza has completely returned to its normal state. The location is once again being used as a venue hosting outside events, though we also spotted a step-and-repeat for Universal Studios Hollywood’s inaugural Bravo Top Chef Food & Wine Festival.

The Walking Dead Attraction is quickly nearing its closing date of March 4, 2020. We will do our best to keep you posted on all of the happenings live that day.

Gru’s Lab Café is currently being repainted and redone to be themed to the Minions strictly.

That’ll do it for this month’s photo update. From all of us at Inside Universal, thank you as always for following our coverage of Universal Parks and Resorts.
