Do we begin planning now???

From Screamscape:
Park News - (1/30/12) According to Screamscape sources Universal Creative may have been given the green light to move forward and prepare for construction to begin on Universal Studios Korea. According to the rumor mill the new Comcast management calling the shots has been impressed with how Universal Singapore has been received and is hot to get the Korea park project on the firing line ASAP. (I would imagine that if possible, they would like to get it open before Shanghai Disneyland is ready…)
Much like Singapore, look for the project to feature a full scale CitiWalk area with retail and restaurants, and in a new twist, it may feature resort hotels that will be built directly into the CitiWalk as well.
On a possibly related note, I received an interesting rumor that could connect some of the failed Dubail park’s intended assets to the new Korea park project. As we have seen previously, it seems that some of the intended rides for the various parks once announced for Dubai were actually produced by the manufacturers, and in some cases even delivered to locations in Dubai to await construction. The canceling (or indefinite hold status) of the big Dubai projects led to some quick discount sales opportunities for some of these rides to go to new parks elsewhere.
Now for the Universal twist on this angle: another Screamscape source claims to have seen a transfer request from Universal to have B&M coaster pieces transferred from Dubai for a new project. To date, I don’t think anyone has spotted any B&M coaster pieces in Dubai that I know of, but chances are they were kept safely inside giant storage containers somewhere, safely out of view. Doing back over the Universal Dubailand project, the park was to have a clone of Dueling Dragons with a King Kong / Skull Island theme and trains themed as giant bats. If you take a look at the artwork released for the proposed Universal Korea park and you’ll see what looks like the exact same ride proposed for Korea as well. Now, this is all just really long-term rumor milling, and my own way of connecting the dots from several different projects, but it does pose an interesting “What if…” scenario worth keeping in mind if the Korea project does indeed get itself back on track.

InsideUniversal.net VIP Tour 2012

I think its a great time to bring this community together and have a fun outing at the park. My first idea would be to setup a VIP Tour at Universal Studios Hollywood and get a group of 15 and reserve a VIP all day event at the park. This would be a great way to get everyone together in a respectable environment where we can all have fun and enjoy the VIP benefits of our favorite theme park. I feel that this event is not limited to only community members, but anyone who commits must pay their admission fee. Bring your friends!

I understand how the term "groupie" could be used in this case, but that is what we all are! If we come together and support the park we love, we can just have a fun time while the VIP tour guide takes us around (that way no one person is in control of the event, the tour guide will have control).

Most likely those of you who have never experienced the VIP tour would be willing to spend the money to do this, or have thought about it in the past. We at InsideUniversal.net will do our best to get a fair price for this event that may offer some discount to the normal guest price. No promises, but it is possible.

Let's look into May 2012 before Memorial Day weekend. That way, hopefully, Transformers will be open.

Jon, JK, what do you think?

By now, you've probably seen some of the protests/blackouts occurring on the web regarding the possible passage of SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (PROTECT IP Act). Given the nature of the bill and its possible effects on this website, I felt compelled to write a short editorial.

Quote:Universal is marking its 100th anniversary this year with a yearlong celebration of its cinematic legacy. The studio will mark the occasion with an “updated animated logo” that will debut before Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, which opens March 2. Perhaps of greater interest to film enthusiasts is the news that Universal will restore 13 of its classic films, including All Quiet on the Western Front, The Birds, Buck Privates, Dracula (1931), Dracula Spanish (1931), Frankenstein, Jaws, Schindler’s List, Out of Africa, Pillow Talk, Bride of Frankenstein, The Sting, and To Kill a Mockingbird, which will debut on Blu-ray on Jan. 31. Jaws and E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, which celebrates its 30th anniversary, will also receive special Blu-ray editions later this year.

With 2012 having already begun, there are new blackout dates in place for the regular annual pass. Universal's Annual Pass website has not updated this information yet. Can we try to get the correct info posted on IU for reference? I think a great idea for our website is to cater more to the Annual Pass crowd.

I believe much more of July is blacked out then before. When I can get the correct info, I can post it here.

...and here they are!

Jun 23, 24, 30
July 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29
Aug 3, 4, 5, 11, 12
Sep 2
Dec 26,27,28,29,30,31
I am very surprised Memorial Day weekend is not blacked out. Especially seeing that is most likely Transformers opening weekend.

Planning ahead for the future date when Transformers begins "soft opening" or "opening day", what do you think Universal is going to do for the heavy crowds wanting to be in the Lower Lot (aka. Studio Center)?

I feel that with the heavy crowds wanting to remain downstairs with all the main "rides" of the park, Universal will have to pulse the crowd down the Starway Escalator. What I mean by this is there may be a need to hand out ticket stubs at the turnstiles which allow you access to the Starway at a certain time of the day to help crowd control and flow. I can imagine if this is not done, the operation of the theme park is going to fail with overcrowding and lots of congestion in the Simpsons area. Once again, the Studio Center will have to open at the same time as the main gate and it will be tough to pull crowds away from the Starway Escalator to visit other attractions.

What are the community thoughts about this? Do you feel that Transformers will not have a big opening like Jurassic Park or Harry Potter? I do believe that the extended queue for Transformers will be inside Soundstage 28 again!

I had to visit USH and become the West Coast Ambassador to the closure of the JAWS Ride in Orlando by attending the Studio Tour in California and posting pics of Bruce in action. Today, the JAWS attraction on the Studio Tour is the only operating JAWS attraction in the United States. With my visit to USH, and picking up a renewed Annual Pass, here are my thoughts and opionions.

1. Grinchmas deconstruction has begun. It looked similar to years prior, probably did not miss much.

2. Attractions which overall were looking good: Jurassic Park - New Dino skins, Stegosaur tail operating!!! JAWS - Newly refurbed shark looked good. Studio Tour restrooms. The new Studio Center look and feel is nice. Some Transformers merch is already available.

3. Attraction needing attention: Jurassic Park - Finale T-Rex. King Kong 360 3-D - was not dark enough. JAWS - Bridge tilt still out. Terminator paint on building exterior - Nuff said! Yuck!

I am still not impressed with the Simpson courtyard area with all the tables from Cinnabon. This area is the heaviest traffic area of the park and is far too crowded. I feel the covered eating area near the JAWS photo op is tacky and ghetto. Theme the area instead of using a tent!

A note to all who want to buy JAWS merch: The JAWS products have been discontinued in Orlando, which means all the JAWS merchadise lines are closed. Buy your JAWS shirts now, they are soon to be extinct!

How are the crowds expected this weekend, 11th and 12th including Friday, which is a holiday for schools etc. We are coming from Arizona and cant change our plans even though it says it going to rain Friday and Saturday. Would that reduce the crowds and make it easier to see everything?
Thanks

With Halloween Horror Nights 2011 DEAD, it almost Grinch time. What did you like from last years event what didn't you like from last years event. What would you like to see for this year.

My favorite part was the Grinch's Lair. To see the overlay and the tunnel with 100's of Color changing Lights was awesome.
I didn't like that they only used a few Christmas decorations.
I would love to see more lights throughout the park.
They should change the themeing in House of Horrors to How The Grinch Stole Christmas.
Christmas barking dogs at Animal Actors
All and all it was a great year last year.
