Question about filming the ride
Last year I when I went to Universal Studios Hollywood, I was on the T2 3D ride and I saw a man filming the show with his home camera, a lady who worked on the ride pummeled through the crowd and told him to turn his camera off and he did and that was it.

But it made me wonder, can you actually get into trouble, like your camera getting confiscated, or your tape taken away if you’re are caught filming a portion of the show for your personal viewing.

I always wondered, does anyone who works at the ride know the general politics regarding this.

Thanks allot

Yes, they can and will confiscate your camera/tape if you continue to film after your first warning from an employee. You could even be escorted or expelled from the park without a refund.

RE: Question about filming the ride
Ok , thanks for the info, that’s what I thought, it’s good that people get a warning from an employee first atleast because I’ve seen a few people their completely oblivious to the fact that no pictures or video were allowed, so i always wondered if it happened allot.

Thanks for the info and I love this ride, hopefully one day I’ll be able to go back again.

If you catch an employee on the fritz, they could take it away the moment they see them. It really depends on the people running the show, and what mood they're in. I personally wouldn't test them.

RE: Question about filming the ride
I worked the attraction many years ago and here is my take on the idea...

Stupid mistakes guests make:
#1 Guests use the main viewing screen which is very bright during the film and they do not realize that thier face lights up when they are watching it. There is stage crew behind the screen which can see the audience and the red recording light on the front of your camera.
#2 Guests do not realize there is a control booth behind the audience which can see the bright screen. The booth will notify the crew where the camera is located.

My tips:
-Do not use the bright screen, instead use the concealed view finder while filming the attraction.
-Sit in the last row of the theater and get a center seat to the auditorium (You will not be bothering anyone else's enjoyment of the attraction and its more difficult for the crew to get to you).
-Always remember that they can see you better than you can see them, hide the camera as best as possible. You need to find ways to help in your favor to not get the crew to come to you.

I have been told that the main reason for not video taping is for crew safety and show quality. Secondary would be the filming rights and damage revenue to the theme park. Laser pointers are sought after more aggressively due to their ability to harm a cast member during show.

Good Luck

Skillz5, thanks for the interesting info!! Really interesting to know that they can see and are really watching the audience for cameras.
