Do you feel....?

Do you feel....?
...that Jurassic Park is still the number one attraction why people come to USH? I feel that JP has the appeal to adults and kids alike and when you see a brochure with a T Rex on the cover, everyone wants to go.
Somehow I doubt if people come to see The Mummy, Fear Factor and Shrek 4D...all the latest attractions added to the park. I truly doubt if the Simpons are going to make people go ooooh!

Although I think there is still an audience out there who comes for the studio tour. But let's be honest...the younger crowd finds it to be a bore.

The last generation which was intrigued by major events of landing on the moon and great practical special efftets in movies are the people who truly enjoy Universal for what it is. Now with CGI, you cannot reproduce that in real life. I feel this is why 3D shows are becoming more popular with theme parks.

RE: Do you feel....?
Interesting question. I wonder if I can get access to any of the parks guest stats and see what they said.

At a guess I would assume it is up there as one of the big crowd pullers. I'd be surprised if the Studio Tour wasn't the number 1 reason people go, even though as you said, younger people find it a bore :)

I'd hope that my attraction, Shrek-4D, is well up there, at least with the younger ones, but I have no idea!

From what I ask the guests when they are waiting to go inside, most people pick Jurassic Park, Mummy, Studio Tour or Shrek as their favorites.

I also have to disagree with your views on peoples views (wow, crap phrasing) of the up-coming Simpson's Ride. I think it is going to huge for Universal, and oh boy do they need a huge new attraction! The disinterest shown by the guests for trial showings of Fear Factor were a telling sign that nobody cared, or would ever care about it. And the House of Horror's is hardly a major addition, heck it's hardly an addition!

Panda begs to differ!

RE: Do you feel....?
The poor Castle Theater has been hit with many bad shows: Spiderman Rocks!, Fear Factor, etc. Many guests did not enjoy Beetlejuice, but I think it had a good quality to it. Conan was awesome, but not for today's standards. It's sad how its still the Conan Castle.

RE: Do you feel....?
It seems like Jurassic Park still gains a large crowds, especially during hot and muggy days. It's also the first thing you see when you enter the Studio Center, so that could be a reason why JP attracts more guests. Whether or not it's the reason why guests go to Universal is debatable. I'm sure Universal has some records on hand to see why guests come to their park.

RE: Do you feel....?
However, 1996 was the big attendance year. Not only did JP open that year, but it was also the first summer for Waterworld. The park hit its record attendance of 42,000 guests. I heard the horror stories of how you could not get anywhere in the park. Waterworld's queue line ended at the Starway Escalator!!!

I worked a day where the park hit 34,000 and trust me, that park could not handle it!!! Imagine 42K!!!

RE: Do you feel....?
Yes.

It's still pretty popular for how old it is. Still packs a crowd. And it doesn't feel outdated at all (except for the preshow video) unlike a lot of the other attractions. It's still my favorite ride at the park.

I feel like Jurassic Park The Ride, Back to the Future The Ride, WaterWorld, and Terminator 2: 3D, and the Studio Tour are the only attractions at the park that were constructed properly to not feel so temporary or cheap.
