Sad day for an iconic attraction in Universal history.
Hopefully, they'll be able to reconstruct the original attraction with some future improvements that can prevent accidents like this from occurring in the future.

I expect to see a new Studio Tour attraction in the next 3 years. We will never see Kong again.

Yes, it is for sure. I have seen the video myself. I also have friends reporting to me who are onsite at this moment.

RE: King Kong June 14, 1986 - June 1, 2008
I'm guessing that they will not rebuild king kong. It is dated and this fire basically forces them to update an aging part of the studio tour. I would guess that by next summer or most likely for next winter they will have a new studio tour attraction in Kong's place.

RE: King Kong June 14, 1986 - June 1, 2008
I'm a grown man, but I'm not ashamed to admit I'm in tears right now.
I have so many great memories of this. It's always the highlight of the Studio Tour for me. Believe it or not, I actually rode the tour YESTERDAY. I feel privliged to be one of the last few trams to see it, but WOW. Earthquake was also down for some reason. Now without Kong, there's a huge gap in movie and theme park history. R.I.P. King Kong |
