RE: Frankenstein building
I think you're right. I was looking for it this weekend too and the Globe doesn't quite match the profile on the edge of the picture. I think the lamp is the one on the corner of the French District.
The camera would have been back near the tall, round French building next to Coke soak.

With the completed building, the metal mesh facade on the T2 queue might obscure the front view of the curved theater building.

Whoa, aerial shot. How'd you get that?
It's definitely from that side. Great illustration bfurlong! (I also like your sig. lol) The only thing I'm not sure about is which of metal forms is made from the green frame I pointed out. I just hope I remember my camera this Saturday so that I can superimpose the before and after pictures.

Do not fear, a nerd is here!

The "birds-eye" shots are from maps.live.com
You can even rotate for different angles.

The best I can tell is that the rounded light green frame in the background behind the crane is the squiggly bit at the very back of the theater's flat side-wall:

RE: Frankenstein building
Yes, that seems to be the correct answer. Good eye!

RE: Frankenstein building
Over the Labor Day weekend I tried to recreate this photo:

A couple of things I noticed: The top of the lamppost has a different design. Also, I think the photographer was on a ladder or the roof of a nearby shop. if you look at the original photo, the temporary walls are probably 7-9ft tall (maybe taller) and they're fairly level to the camera (the top height doesn't change the farther away they get).

RE: Frankenstein building
I also tried to recreate the photos a couple weeks ago, but sadly I don't have Photoshop so I haven't done what I wanted to yet. I took mine a bit further to the right than yours, but got the same result. Perhaps if we stood on top of the rectangle fountain at Coke Soak we'd get something closer to what the original photographer had. As for the lamppost I wonder if that's a result of HHN 2006. I remember thinking that something was different about them during that time.
