LOTR Ride! (Island of Adventures)
Quote:"Imagine if you will a world unlike any you've ever visited before: it's Middle Earth, the ancient and beautiful land forged by J.R.R. Tolkien as the backdrop for his two most well known creations, Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Walk as a human among dwarves, elves, orcs and hobbits -- all faithfully recreated and portrayed in the spirit of the original characters as they appeared in both the books and the movies. In this land you'll experience one-of-a-kind rides and attractions that bring to life some of the most memorable experiences of Tolkien's world including Bilbo's hobbit hole, the fortress at Isengard (before it was destroyed) and even the dark world of Mordor -- including the terrifying volcanic Mount Doom."

A new rumor has started that says Universal is looking into buying LOTR rights so that they can make lands/rides based off movies and books.

Current rumors say its for Island of Adventure but if they get the right we may get a show or ride one day too!!!

Lets hope sooner rather than later. What do you guys think?

RE: LOTR Ride! (Island of Adventures)
Wow, very interesting. I'm not a fan of the series, but I could definitely see the potential for a themed island. My only gripe is for them to expand, not replace. Islands of Adventure already has a perfect balance as is. No need to take anything further away.

But I still stand on my firm belief that Universal needs to rely more and more on their own franchises and focus on building from there instead of buying off and licensing from other companies.

RE: LOTR Ride! (Island of Adventures)
I agree. I am too not a fan of LOTR series. I feel Universal already has a brand and they are seriously not keeping it up. However, I feel if anything needs attention, its Universal Florida. Islands of adventure has a great mix, but I also believe it has too much now with HP. Next big growth should be in USF.

I thought someone would hit up Avatar. LOTR is already dated and not expected to have much lasting power. Avatar already has sequels in mind.

^I think with two more movies coming out (plus the fact that the third LOTR won best picture) most people know the series and its good for kids, teens and adults.

I would love to se a LOTR ride/land if they ever build a second park out here in Hollywood.

I don't know, LOTR has a very big fan base. Of course its not as big as Star Wars or Harry Potter, but it is still pretty big.

I would love the idea of a LOTR attraction, of course I have no idea if it should be some kind of a show, ride, land, or what

RE: LOTR Ride! (Island of Adventures)
LOTR isnt my favorite movie and from what i read here not to many universal fans like these films also. I dont think it will work. The films seemed pretty boring to me.

^we'll with them now making the Dark Tower Movies I don't think they'll need to buy LOTRs if they ever want to create a new ride based off a new movie trilogy.
