What will Universal be like in the future?
I've always wondered about this. Future expansions, rides, attractions. How they'll eventually get rid of WaterWorld, the Simpsons and perhaps even Terminator.
So what do you think? Where do you think the future lies?

RE: What will Universal be like in the future?
I have a feeling we will be saying goodbye to Waterworld, Terminator, and Shrek in the next few years. This is a really good question becuase the park is known to be replacing rides and attractions very frequently, so we may not even reconize the park 20 years from now. But I would say that I think the Studio Tour (duh) and Jurrasic Park will be there for a long time.
Recently I was reading how Spielberg was linked to be making a movie on Michael Crichton's last book "Pirate Latitudes". So it got me thinking that a pirate themed stunt show would make a great replacement for Waterworld. |

that would be a great idea for a stunt show a pirate theme but have better special effects kind of like when someone gets shot they should have the same blood effects as slaughterworld, that way it looks like he was really shot

Universal of the future. All rides use 3D in some sort, smell is also incorporated. Virtual Ques are uses and water world is more relevant because the world is actually covered in water.LOL

RE: What will Universal be like in the future?
I wish people would tone down on the 3D attractions. I think we have enough, if you count Terminator, Shrek and now Transformers.
I would love to see some live action effects, the type you see in Poseidon's Fury over at IOA. Something like that, but incorporated with a ride. So in other words, a ride/show combination. Like Revenge of the Mummy, except longer and with an actual plot. I think these days we are leaning more and more towards 3D and animated attractions. A lean back to live action effects would be welcomed.

RE: What will Universal be like in the future?
^ I Agree, expecailly 3D shows like Terminator, Shrek, and all the ones disney has, just seem to get old pretty fast. Well not so much Terminator but like how disney just brought back Captian EO. I saw it once and now I really don't care if I see it again because it is just like watching a video at home over and over again. So I agree with more rides or live-action shows, just because it seems to be a completely difference experience everytime. And with movies now a days, I usually can't tell the difference between a 3D movie and a non 3D movie.

RE: What will Universal be like in the future?
I think cost is the main reason why 3D attractions are starting to become the norm. They're cheap to maintain and produce. Compare a show like Shrek to a show like WaterWorld. Complexities galore for WaterWorld, while Shrek can run throughout the day with little to no problems. Plus, it doesn't take that much skill to maintain if built properly.

RE: What will Universal be like in the future?
Ya 3D is being used a lot but its not being optimized. As we all saw from Kong, 3D is alive and better than what it used to be. Captain EO was my first 3D experience and from that to Kong, WOW. And because of Universal Hollywood's size problem 3D seems to be away to expand and add more. But I agree that 3D is being used a lot but not until now has it been this great.
