To answer your question I think WaterWorld will only last another 2-3 years.

Says Disney Universal

RE: When will WaterWorld finally meet its demise?
I just saw in another thread in one of the WW sub-forum that a contract in 2007 has been signed for another (apparently) 5 years. That means the contract should expire around 2012; right around the opening of Transformers. I doubt they would tear it down shortly after it opens since it would reduce capacity in the park greatly. I guess the rumor of WW leaving around 2013 for a new ride is sounding more and more accurate.

The question is, when the contract expires, how soon will they announce it? Right before Transformers opens so WW can be torn down around 2013? Disneyland, from what I heard, is opening a big Tron ride around 2014 so maybe they might try to push for a new ride there ASAP?

Waterworld seems like the only venue where you can have enough space available to build something of worthy competition. I am amazed how long Waterworld has lasted at USH. I still feel that more focus should be paid attention to the heart of the park near the Wild West theater and Animal Show.

I heard that WaterWorld will be safe for at least one or two more years. It's demise will be fairly soon, but if what I'm hearing is true, it won't be for Harry Potter.

This would be consistent with the latest refurb for Waterworld. I could see WW location becoming a coaster type of attraction for Harry Potter land. I doubt if it would be Dueling Dragons because that coaster is far too large and currently lost all of its appeal. But I can imagine another ride would go here in the long term.

Whatever is going where WaterWorld is, it won't be for anything Harry Potter related. You might be surprised of what they may have planned for that space, if what I'm hearing is true. Wink
