I have only witnessed the short video projection on the wall and the 10K Strobe light that blinds and disorients the passengers. However I have a chance to go up where the dome is and see how it used to work. The original projector was very large. It was a 3 cannon RGB projector. That sat on a platform projecting on to the dome. This type of projector was very expensive to maintain. Also the video player witch feed it, also had a lot of hard drive issues. Thus taking booth items out of the ride made for a lot less maintenance. There was all so about 40’ of incandescent strip lights that were colored to help with the fire effect. Once the video fire was turned off, there was no need for the lights ether. It seems to me the whole reason to change the ending was due to maintenance and costs of up keep. I can understand that. But they could have at least made a bit of a better ending. At least keep the faux fire. That can be done with a bunch of amber floods and the existing fog effect. And Orlando got to keep their awesome effects... I'm sure they have some effects that are expensive to maintain. The system could have been re-designed as well. Instead of a hard-drive, use flash memory, instead of the projector, use LCD panels (which would look a bit tacky but oh well) or just make a smaller projection... Like a hole in the roof where you can see Imhotep they could have added air effects to make it seem like Imhotep is sucking out your soul with him laughing, lights go out, have him go "ahhh the eclipse", strobe goes off and the fog fills the room, the end... There are a bit more things they could have done. I can actually see that some of the technology is still there so why not utilize the things that don't break down as much? I mean they could have even made projections of Imhotep on the side of the wall but honestly, I don't get why the projections during the scarab part work fine while the dome projection worked faulty. I mean I understand its bigger... Anyway, thanks for putting up the info man. |

Spend some real money on it and make the building clear fire code so you can have some real fire at the end. That would be way more impressive than the lame projection we have now.

Unfortunately, this is the same management that cut the facade for Transformers because of budget and now it looks like a pile of vomit caused and smeared by Michael Bay's stoner brother. I would love to see it happen, but I can't imagine it happening soon...if ever. If they did fool with fixing the ending, it would be fantastic if they would also put some Egyptian-themed walls around the tacky-looking corridor where the car comes back to the station. Redress it please! Maybe after Potter opens they could fix it....that's a maybe. "The only thing to fear is fear itself..." -Fredy Kruger

Was that mural in front of the Transformers building really the result of budget reductions?

I hope not. Does anyone have a recent pic of the building? Maybe we will get a transformer or two on the outside of the building? Building at Singapore isn't anything great(better then here but not great). We can only hope the ride housed inside the building will be awesome. a couple more months till opening, anyone hear of soft opening date or annual pass holders preview date?

It's from December 20th, but I doubt much has changed.
