Over the weekend, Mike Ostrom and Mark Wing sat down at Midsummer Scream to lay out everything happening with Fright Fest at Six Flags Magic Mountain this year. They can be seen here in their seasonally appropriate looks.
In lighter news, they mentioned that Tricks And Treats is returning for its second year, this time with a new Halloween show in the newly revamped Looney Tunes Land.
Without wasting much more time, they detailed what would not be returning this year.
Three mazes, Condamned, Saw: Legacy of Terror, and Truth or Dare, were all getting the axe, along with the two scarezones of Grimmlore Ridge and Carnivhell. While we had heard strong clues that 2025 would be Condamned’s final year, it would be nice if they adopted Knott’s Scary Farm’s tradition of making these announcements a year in advance, if possible.
That does mean everything else would be returning in some fashion, of course. In regard to the scare zones, they’re all getting tweaked in some fashion, with a few new characters. Devil’s Triangle will be relocated, however, to make room for a new opening scene.
Trick ‘r Treat is being relocated to where Saw used to be, a much more attractive location. That’s a classic, and it deserves to be seen by more guests, so this is a great move.
The new scare zone at the front of the park will be Unleashed, featuring an opening ceremony that runs throughout the night, starring a demonic portal master named Kurvatu.
There were also a slew of new show announcements.
The sliders are returning, in a new show titled “Dreams of the Damned” that’ll be grittier with even more stunts.
Nytewalkers is an athletic show being brought over from other Six Flags parks. It’ll be on the Full Throttle stage and be the biggest show yet on that stage. 
And in terms of shows, Margo Rita’s Monster Ball from last year is returning. This was easily our favorite. This year, it’ll take up a larger space inside the Gearworks Theater. The story is that after the success of last year, they all went on a world tour and just returned, featuring a pair of new characters, Kal and Sangria Monae, their tour manager.
The Conjuring Universe maze is getting a revamp with more legendary characters being added, including the fairy man and crooked man. This maze was already one of the highest-quality and scariest on the property, so seeing it get more attention is nice.
In a total surprise, Final Destination is getting its first-ever appearance as a Halloween maze anywhere. We’re honestly not sure how it has avoided a presence at a Halloween event all these years, but it’s welcome. This will be in the Condamned location, and if it wasn’t obvious, the idea is that by entering the maze, Death will be chasing you. They’ve kept many details to a minimum, but did strongly suggest that a wood chipper would be present.
The final new maze announcement, however, was a surprise.
While the name Wolves Blood doesn’t seem to be worthy of excitement, it was the name attached to the maze that got everyone’s attention.
Gus Krueger, one of the head maze designers from Knott’s Scary Farm, has made his way up to Valencia to help bring his touch to Fright Fest for the first time. The idea for this maze focuses on the idea of you visiting a town by the name of Daylight’s End. It’s a place well off the beaten path, and it’s full of roaming wolves. Once inside the Dungeon Theater, there’s a coming-out party for a local metal band with the eponymous title of Wolves Blood. It’ll be chock-full of references, including Red’s Revenge, a maze that previously occupied the location.
Gus explained it was a chance for him to try something with a different vibe from what Scary Farm traditionally does, and to help contribute to the growing lore of Fright Fest. Plus, he really likes metal music.
Seeing Scary Farm cross-over at the park continue (following last year’s use of the lanterns) is a great thing to see and everyone wins when we have more to explore.
Fright Fest runs select nights starting September 18th through November 1st. Tricks and Treats runs on weekends starting September 25th through November 1st.
