Universal Studios Hollywood has announced that Insidious will be coming back to Halloween Horror Nights in an all-new maze – “Insidious: Beyond the Further”.

The new maze is inspired by the upcoming 4th film – Insidious: Chapter 4, but will feature scenes from all 4 films. This will be the third time the franchise has made its way to the event. The maze will be located in the Jurassic Park extended queue.

The franchise centers around families that are haunted by demons from the “Further” – an astral plane where the malevolent spirits reside – and attempt to return to the living. With the help of psychic Elise Rainier, along with her partners Tucker and Specs; they come to the aide of the afflicted families to cast out the dead.

The new maze will delve deep into parapsychologist Dr. Elise Rainier’s past, starting with a childhood in which her paranormal abilities emerged…until her mother’s untimely death by a demonic entity. Dr. Rainier will take guests on an unsettling journey back in time through a portal into the Further…to defy the most depraved and intimidating beings that have tormented her since the 1950s.

The three previous entries in the franchise have introduced some iconic, modern-day horror figures, such as the Lipstick-Face Demon, The Bride in Black, and The Man Who Can’t Breathe. The Insidious franchise has grossed over $358 million at the worldwide box office.

Opening in theaters nationwide on January 5, 2018, Insidious: Chapter 4 is a Blumhouse Production, and directed by series newcomer Adam Robitel, the supernatural thriller is written by co-creator Leigh Whannell and produced by Insidious series regulars Jason Blum, Oren Peli and co-creator James Wan. The film stars Lin Shaye as Dr. Rainier.
