On Tuesday, Universal invited us to participate in a milkshake tasting event at the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium Dessert Foundry.

On display were the 14 milkshakes Toothsome offers. But these are no ordinary milkshakes. Served in a souvenir mason jar, overflowing with icing, cream, cookies and cake, these picturesque concoctions are like something out of a Willy Wonka fever dream — and as delicious as you’d expect.

From a new spin on the classic vanilla shake — Thrilla in Vanilla — to their unique “Confetti” creation, topped off with a large slice of frosted cake, the variety of flavors is sure to satisfy anyone’s sweet tooth.

While tastes are a matter of personal preference, and every option is worth trying, here are 5 shakes that stood out above the rest, in no particular order.

Espresso Buzzzz

For when you want a little kick with your sweet treat, enter the “Espresso Buzzzz.” Made with coffee ice cream and espresso, this choice is the perfect way to satisfy a need for caffeine in the summer.

That’s Mint

Mint chocolate lovers look no further — this is the milkshake for you. “That’s Mint” doubles down on its namesake, stuffing as much minty goodness into the jar as possible. A nice refreshing treat, especially on a hot day.

Cookie Jar

Fans of the Oreo shake will want to try this one out. Packed with ice cream and chunks of three different kinds of cookies, topped off with a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie in a bed of whipped cream, Cookie Jar is a delectable delight that won’t let you down.

Confetti

Probably the most unique one of the bunch. Confetti is the perfect name. This thing looks like a party and offers an explosion of flavor.

Red Velvet

Capped off by a full-size cupcake, Red Velvet is a mixture of vanilla ice cream and raspberry sauce. Not only is this one tasty, it’s beautiful to look at.

Honorable Mentions:

If you’re not feeling as adventurous, here are a couple of more traditional offerings, neither of which sacrifices Toothsome’s unique flair.

Thrilla in Vanilla: Essentially a souped-up vanilla milkshake. Don’t be fooled by its simplicity, however. This is far from a bland treat.

Brownie: This is a chocolate lover’s dream. It feels like you are dipping your straw straight into a chocolate fountain, and that’s every bit as amazing as it sounds.

If you get the chance to make it to Toothsome’s, or the Dessert Foundry, I highly recommend you try one of these out for yourself. While they’re pricier than your normal run-of-the-mill shake (about $14-17), you get what you pay for, and these concoctions will not disappoint.
