Universal City, California – Hundreds of employee volunteers will deploy to five non-profit organizations throughout Los Angeles as Universal Studios Hollywood marks its 7th annual “Day of Giving” community outreach program on Thursday, November 10, 2011.

Universal Studios Hollywood’s “Day of Giving” is designed to reach a broad cross-section of groups serving diverse community needs. This year’s day-long event will feature hundreds of Universal Studios’ employees assisting such Los Angeles area non-profit organizations as AIDS Project L.A. Food Pantry, MEND – Meet Each Need with Dignity, Operation School Bell, Pacific Lodge Boys’ Home, and Union Station Homeless Services.

Employees will assist staff stocking weekly food supplies to persons affected by AIDS at AIDS Project L.A. Food Pantry; stock the food banks at MEND, the San Fernando Valley’s largest food bank and most comprehensive poverty relief organization; serve a hot lunch, prepared by Universal Studios’ executive chef at Union Station Homeless Services; beautify the grounds at the Pacific Lodge Boys’ Home, and fitting poverty-level children of LAUSD with clothing and uniforms as part of Operation School Bell.

This year’s “Day of Giving” adds a new and exciting dimension to the “Operation School Bell” outreach efforts as the 150 homeless, young recipients will embark on a field trip to Universal Studios Hollywood, the host site for the new school wear exchange. The day-long activities for these youngsters will also include a visit to the theme park and lunch.

“There’s no better way to celebrate our company’s core value of `doing the right thing’ than by gathering our employees and demonstrating our commitment to improving the community,” said Larry Kurzweil, President of Universal Studios Hollywood. “The level of compassion our employees display through their participation in these community-based projects is highly commendable. I’m proud of each and every one of them.”
