Universal releases a new CA Resident Annual Pass for select Californian residents

For a limited time, Universal has reinstated the CA Resident Annual Pass for select Californian residents until August 15, 2016.

Featuring 224 days of valid admission (including 39 weekend days), this offer is only applicable to select guests who are on Universal’s mailing list. This mailing list typically includes current or past annual pass holders who are registered with Universal’s online mailing system.

Like the previous CA Resident Annual Pass, this special offer does not include any discounts on in-park food, beverage or merchandise.

Is this offer valid to all Californian residents?

At the moment, no. Universal’s email blast explicitly states that this offer is tied to the recipient’s email address. If you’ve registered with Universal’s mailing list in the past, you should receive an email with a link to purchase this new pass.

If I did receive an email, can I upgrade to the new CA Resident Annual Pass if my current pass features fewer dates?

The answer is “it depends.” At $109, there’s a good chance that the new CA Resident Annual Pass is priced lower or at par with your current pass. Since there’s no direct upgrade (e.g., Deluxe to Premium), you’ll have to contact Universal to see if they can make an accommodation.

If you’re at the park, go to Will Call. If you’re at home, you may call Universal at 1-800-UNIVERSAL.

How can I sign up for Universal’s mailing list?

You may sign up at this link on Universal’s official website.

I’m on Universal’s mailing list and I haven’t received this email. What can I do?

Universal may be sending these email notices in waves, so try to wait a day or two to receive an email. If you’ve yet to receive an email, it may be possible that Universal is not extending this offer to everyone on their mailing list. You may contact 1-800-UNIVERSAL for more information.

When is this new CA Resident Annual Pass blacked out?

    July 2016 – 1 through 31
    August 2016 – 1 through 15, 20, 21, 27, 28
    September 2016 – 3, 4, 5, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, 25, 30
    October 2016 – 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30
    November 2016 – 5, 25, 26
    December 2016 – 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 19 through 31
    January 2017 – 1
    February 2017 – 11, 18, 19, 20
    April 2017 – 8 through 16, 22
    May 2017 – 20, 27, 28, 29
    June 2017 – 3, 4, 9 through 30
    July 2017 – 1 through 31

How can I compare my previous pass with this one?

You can find an archive of the CA Resident Plus Annual Pass, CA Resident Annual Pass, and 2016 Season Pass at this link

I currently own the old CA Resident Annual Pass. How does this new revision differ?

The new limited-edition CA Resident Annual Pass offers 224 days of valid admission for $109 for select residents. The previous CA Resident Annual Pass only offered 176 days of admission for $139.
