A whole new transportation system of gondolas is planned, called the Disney Skyliner, to give guests a never-before-seen birds-eye view of Walt Disney World. The new transportation system will connect the new Disney Vacation Club Riviera Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation, Pop Century and Caribbean Beach resorts with Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the International Gateway at Epcot. Many of the gondolas with Disney Skyliner will feature favorite Disney characters. The new transportation is estimated to open in Fall 2019.

During the Parks and Resorts presentation at the D23 Expo, it was confirmed that a Tron attraction similar to the popular attraction at Shanghai Disneyland is heading to Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom. The attraction will be built directly next to Space Mountain. The rumored plans of the ride replacing the Tomorrowland Speedway were premature, therefore the Speedway currently has no plans to close. Disney has confirmed at the D23 Expo Parks & Resorts Panel that a “Guardians of the Galaxy”-inspired attraction will be added to Future World in Epcot. The brand new E-ticket attraction will replace the Universe of Energy, which will close on August 13, 2017. This will be the first Marvel attraction located in Walt Disney World since their acquisition of the brand back in 2012. No word as to what type of ride the attraction will be, or what the story line is – but it was teased that Peter Quill (aka Star Lord) actually visited Epcot as a kid. Also unknown…
An attraction based on the hit 2007 Pixar film “Ratatouille” will be added to the France Pavilion in World Showcase. Guests will “be able to shrink to Remy’s size and scurry to safety in a dazzling chase across a kitchen with the sights, sounds and smells of Gusteau’s legendary Parisian restaurant.” The attraction will expand the pavilion. The attraction is a clone of Ratatouille: The Adventure; which opened at the Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris in 2014. The attraction is set to open in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration in 2021.

Disney Parks has confirmed at the D23 Parks & Resort panel that Mickey Mouse is finally getting his own attraction called Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway – coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The new attraction will be based on the new Mickey Mouse Cartoon Shorts that air on the Disney Channel. During the D23 Parks & Resorts Panel at the 2017 D23 Expo, Disney has confirmed that the new name of Star Wars Land at both Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be called – “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge”. The lands will feature two major attractions – one surrounding a battle between the First Order and the Resistance, and the other based on an Millennium Falcon experience.
