Universal Studios Store

The recently-announced Universal Studios Store continues outdoor construction. Blue paneling has been added recently as they start to theme the facade. The corner space was the former home of several retail locations, including Fossil and the Island Clothing Co. – which closed last January.

Blue Man Group

Universal has removed most of the signage for Blue Man Group and painted over the giant sign on the sound stage. There are still some bits and pieces of advertisements sprinkled throughout the resort, but we expect them to be removed pretty quickly. The Blue Man Group announced their closure last month, ending their 14-year run at Universal Orlando. No decision has been announced as to what will replace the Blue Man Group Theatre.

In addition, Blue Man Group merch is available at a discounted price at the exit shop of Universal Studios Florida.

Mardi Gras 2021

Mardi Gras continues at Universal Studios Florida, with the event recently getting extended to April 11. The event features more than 70 dishes and beverages from 13 locations around the globe, and with the park vibrantly decorated and featuring costumed dancers and stilt performers just like years prior (just at a safe distance).

The Beat Builders also get in the Mardi Gras fun by adding a couple Mardi Gras/Jazz classics to its setlist.

A Day in the Park with Barney

Although most of the signage and decorations were removed, A Day in the Park with Barney’s courtyard remain open for guests – including the childrens’ bathrooms. Some areas also received a fresh coat of paint while the area’s future remains unknown.

Jurassic World VelociCoaster

Testing continues on the VelociCoaster, mostly in the afternoon and into nightfall. It seems much of the work is done and we’re heading into the final countdown as we await a soft opening, and eventually, an opening date.

The columns of the Visitor Center were recently repainted to brighten up the faux-wood look.

The Raptor Statues near the waterfront entrance were recently painted to look like bronze statues, with patina and all.

Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls

Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls is in the midst of its annual winter refurbishment. Most of the work is standard maintenance on the drop track and a fresh coat of paint to the facade. The attraction is expected to reopen on March 19, 2021.

A Little Bit of this, A Little Bit of that

The smoking section in Jurassic Park is still behind walls.

Rosie’s Irish Imports in the New York section of Universal Studios is all decorated for St. Patrick’s Day.

Bruce the Shark is still out for refurbishment, with no timeframe for his return.

2 new doughnuts debuted at Voodoo Doughnut over the weekend. The chick doughnut is lemon cheesecake, with vanilla frosting and lemon cheesecake filling. The bunny doughnut is strawberry cheesecake, with vanilla frosting and strawberry cheesecake filling. They are available until May 8.

Toothsome’s Chocolate Emporium is all decorated for the Easter holiday.

The Players Championship is being played on the big screen at NBC Sports Grill Brew. A temporary bar has been set up outside the entrance, serving general drinks – including 2 themed cocktails. Guests can also register to win a set of unique glasses.
