Universal Orlando shares first look at new food & drink coming to Mardi Gras 2019

Today, Universal Orlando shared a first look at the menu coming to this year’s Mardi Gras celebration. Changing how guests can enjoy the New Orleans dishes, Universal is now offering the new tasting size option – allowing guests the chance to indulge in all of this year’s dishes, or sample just a few.

Universal is bringing back returning favorites, such as gumbo, jambalaya, and beignets; but are also adding a few more Cajun classics to the menu. Po’ boys are being offered in different varieties – including Fried catfish, shrimp & andouille sausage, and chicken. Crab Etouffee is a classic dish, served with rice and crab smothered in a savory sauce. It wouldn’t be a Mardi Gras celebration without the traditional King Cake. Twisted taters are returning, featuring a new Cajun seasoning twist. There are also a variety of specialty cocktails guests can enjoy in the French Quarter courtyard – and new to this year’s event is a dedicated mimosa bar – with unique flavors ranging from caramel apple to raspberry rosemary.

    Other specialty drinks include:

    • Carnival Cocktail
    • Ragin’ Rumbalaya
    • Vicious Voodoo (a combo of the two above!)
    • A wide variety of craft beer selections

For a non-alcoholic option, the Bayou Bog Water is available – complete with gummy worms and fish, blueberry boba beads and a lemonade and ginger ale mix.

Universal’s Mardi Gras 2019 will run daily from Feb. 9 through April 4.  For 13 select nights during the event, guests can enjoy performances by some of the biggest names in music, nightly parade, and of course, all the food!
