Welcome to another edition of Around the Universe, the photo trip report taking you around the Universal Orlando Resort! This week we’ll take a trip through USF, with stops in New York, Springfield, and Diagon Alley. Then we’ll head over to IOA for a look at the latest Kongstruction! All that and much more this week, as we go, Around the Universe! Let’s get going!
Construction is still moving pretty slowly on the former NASCAR Grille location. They did some new ventilation work in the last work.Let’s head into the Studios first.By the time we got to the park, crowds were beginning to thin for the night.....Universal started running tests this past week with metal detectors at the entrance to Rockit. All the way back in October, Universal has enforced a strict no loose article policy in the coaster and this is just the latest step. The metal detectors were up in the morning, but had been taken down by the time we made it to the park.Guests were being routed around the right side of the lift hill upon entering the queue for the ride. This past weekend, Phillip Phillips was the featured Mardi Gras act.Over in New York, the scrim was down off the facade of Doc’s Corner Store. There’s now a scrim around the Louie’s building.Inside Diagon, the Gringott’s dragon stands guard over the alley...The Kwik-E-Mart in Springfield is a great gift shop centered around the Simpsons.....The Mr. Teeny non-alcoholic drink consisting of Lemonade, Pineapple Juice, and Blue Curacao, is available at Moe’s, Duff Gardens, and Fast Food Boulevard.Moe’s is now serving some small snacks at the bar.Just outside of KidZone, three cars used in the filming of Furious 7 are on display.......The Do Not Touch signs, were largely ignored by most guests.Over in Hollywood, the windows of Ralph’s Hollywood Market are back from refurbishment. The sign remains, but the curtains in each window are gone.Let’s hop over to Islands..Waits had really dropped off by this time....Jumping over into Jurassic Park, there’s a ton of new rockwork and steel up....New themed construction walls have recently gone up near Thunder Falls Terrace............To help alleviate Spring Break crowds, the Potter bypass bridge has been open. The bridge provides great views of the parks you can’t normally get.
And with that, another Around the Universe is in the books! Get in touch with us on Twitter @triggernel & @Orlando_United, and on the forums.
