In part two of our behind-the-scenes preview of Halloween Horror Nights, we’ll take a look at Creepshow, also located on the Universal metro sets. You can check out part one here, where we preview Ghostbusters.

Based on the 1982 horror anthology film as well as Shudder’s upcoming television series, the maze follows three of the stories from the original film – “Father’s Day”, “The Crate”, and “They’re Creeping Up on You!” – in addition to two stories from the television series – “Grey Matter” and “Bad Wolf Down”.

Guests enter a facade designed to look like a giant Creepshow comic book, literally drawing them into the stories featured within. Similarly to last year’s Trick r’ Treat maze based off of the anthology film of the same name, Creepshow begins with the first tale featured in the film – “Father’s Day” – and works its way through all of the stories in relative chronological order.

The maze opens with a transition into “Father’s Day” in the style of comic book panels, vibrant colors popping in the otherwise dark atmosphere. Guests soon run into the Creepshow Creep himself, who beckons them to continue forward as they gradually inch up to the first show scene: the graveyard where Nathan Grantham is accidentally brought back from the dead by his daughter – and murderer – Bedelia. The rest of the maze follows this layout, with each story introduced by its title page and followed with one or more elaborate show scenes.

Each show scene is packed to the brim with details ranging from the abundance of cockroaches in Upson Pratt’s apartment in “They’re Creeping Up on You”, to the numerous lists of chemical and geometric formulas posted around the classroom in “The Crate”.

Although we do not want to spoil too much more of the maze, we can confidently say that fans of the Creepshow franchise will be delighted to see the stories brought to life with great authenticity to the film, effectively transporting all who venture through the maze into Creepshow’s tales of horror.

Stick around for the final part of our behind-the-scenes preview, where we will take a look at Killer Klowns from Outer Space.
