Happy holidays! It’s time for December’s photo update around CityWalk Hollywood! This month, we take a look at some of CityWalk’s newest offerings, as well as briefly address the minimized options available under new COVID-19 restrictions imposed in Los Angeles County.

Let’s get started!

Holidays 2020

The massive Christmas tree in front of the Universal Cinema has been completely installed, perfect for holiday photo opportunities – with masks on this year, of course. Nearby, just outside of Toothsome Chocolate Emporium, as well as all around CityWalk, poinsettia flowers have been planted to add an extra element of holiday spirit.

Other holiday decorations can be found all across the property, including the usual arrangement of lights, ornaments, Whoville-inspired trees, and wreaths outside of the front gate to Universal Studios Hollywood. The Universal Studio Store has also received a new holiday-inspired exterior as one of the most popular hubs for shopping across the complex.

New Venues at CityWalk

Bringing a little more of the park outside to CityWalk just in time for the holidays, three new venues have opened: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Sweets & Treats, Cartooniversal Toy Shop, and Studio Souvenirs.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Sweets & Treats offers a selection of Wizarding World favorites, including all three types of Butterbeer, Butterbeer ice cream, chocolate frogs, and more, located in the former spot of Ludo Bird.

Cartooniversal Toy Shop brings a number of character-based merchandise items from the park together in one grand assortment perfect for holiday gifts, found in the prior location of GUESS.

Studio Souvenirs takes the place of the long-vacant former location of Sublime Gifts & Finds, primarily selling items based on Sanrio characters and Illumination films in a boutique setup.

CityWalk Operations

Following the implementation of new safety orders across Los Angeles County intended to help curb the spread of COVID-19, outdoor dining has been prohibited at CityWalk. Some CityWalk venues are still open for takeout, including KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Bubba Gump, Buca di Beppo, Blaze Pizza, and Johnny Rockets, though all tables have been blocked off across the property since guests are no longer able to sit down to eat. Other options, such as Antojitos Mexican Restaurant and Vivo Italian Kitchen, have closed again altogether for now.

Voodoo Doughnut, Mini Monster, Wetzel Pretzel, and the new The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Sweets & Treats have been open as usual as well. Cinnabon appears to have closed again.

A Little Bit of This, A Little Bit of That

The welcome and goodbye signs along Universal Hollywood Drive have been updated after multiple years of sun bleaching. A few of the signs have been entirely replaced with characters from The Secret Life of Pets and Trolls.

A new cart selling the popular Lard Lad Donuts from Springfield USA has arrived just outside of the Universal Studio Store.

Guests can find holiday-themed Universal Studios masks at a discount in Production Central. Many other Universal-themed items perfect for a holiday gift are available as well.

That’ll do it for this month’s photo update. We wish you a safe and happy holiday season and thank you for following our continuing coverage of Universal Parks and Resorts.
