March 11, 2013 – Universal Studios Hollywood just announced that Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem will be opening in 2014 on their official Facebook page – pushing back the widely speculated opening date of early 2013 and confirming rumors that Universal would be carbon-copying Hollywood’s Despicable Me ride system from Universal Studios Florida. If you’ve been to Universal City lately, you’ve probably gotten a glimpse of the “Public Hearing” notices posted in and around the city’s entrance. While it’s almost a given that the hearing is chiefly centered around the NBCUniversal Evolution plan, we decided to do some digging. January 23, 2013 – We’ve gotten confirmed reports that a minor fire has broken out at the construction site of Terminator 2:3D. At around 1:32 PM, park officials began cordoning off the western portion of the park – laying a barrier between Universal’s House of Horrors (which sits near the entrance of the park) and Universal’s Animal Actors (near the back of the park) as the graphic below illustrates. Here’s a look at what’s happening in the park right now, with construction projects getting underway, and the final traces of a beloved attraction.
