    Orlando: Get Ready for GeekyCon!

The name might be new, but the same fun of the popular convention (previously known as LeakyCon) is back to Orlando and the Orange County Convention Center from July 30 to August 2, 2015. The once Harry Potter-centric event has expanded to officially welcome fans of all things geeky, from the boy wizard, to superheroes, Doctor Who, The Hunger Games, Disney and everything in between.
GeekyCon will feature a variety of programming and activities such as panels, contests, concerts, a ball, and much more. There will be special guests from film, TV, Broadway and YouTube. And what’s more, autograph signings and photo-booth opportunities with special guests are included in the price of admission. For those interested in literature and the publishing world, the Con offers GeekyCon Lit, where attendees have the chance to interact with popular authors in special programming as well as signings.

Throughout the entire weekend, The GeekyCon Marketplace will be open offering all sorts of geeky merchandise and crafts. The Marketplace also hosts Charity Row, where different charitable organizations have booths set up providing information about their causes. Charity is a big part of GeekyCon—as it has been with LeakyCon. Proceeds from these Cons benefit different charities including The Harry Potter Alliance, Book Aid International, Friends in Deed, Oxfam, Reading is Fundamental, Shelterbox, and many more.

Registered attendees also have the opportunity to purchase tickets to Open At The Close 2015, the Con’s exclusive event at Universal Orlando’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Taking place Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from 7:00pm—2:00am, for a price of $175, attendees will enjoy “transportation to and from GeekyCon, admission to both Universal Orlando® parks, a special catered meal just for GeekyCon attendees, and access to the many shops, treats, and entertainment.”

Registration is still open, and tickets to the special event at Universal Orlando are still available for purchase, so make sure to check out GeekyCon’s official website for more information.

UPDATE: Visit our Facebook page for a chance to win passes to GeekyCon! (Contest runs through Sunday 7/26 at 8pm)
