Can you feel that spring is here? The air is warming up, flowers are blooming, and the boysenberries have taken over Knott’s Berry Farm. It’s now time for the most delicious season at Knott’s: the Boysenberry Festival! For a park that was founded on food, it only makes sense that they host an annual food and wine festival – this one with an obvious tilt toward their namesake berry. We recently covered some of the dining and merchandise options in our tasting preview earlier this month, but there’s a lot more to cover, so let’s get to it. In terms…

Winter is fading in Southern California, and that means one thing in Buena Park: the return of the Boysenberry Festival at Knott’s Berry Farm. Ahead of the full kickoff, we got a preview of this year’s boysenberry-inspired food and new merchandise. Here’s a quick look at what’s coming soon. To no one’s surprise, there were a lot of desserts to try this year. The group favorite was the boysenberry shortcake sushi roll. Chopsticks were even provided if you wanted to make it feel like a somewhat-authentic sushi roll. There was also a no-bake lemon and boysenberry cheesecake that had the…
Are you ready for Christmastime? The days are hilariously short. The temperatures have fallen enough to require jackets, and I think there were even a few days of rain! You know what that means? It’s time for Knott’s to shed the spooky decor and reveal the seasonal version of Knott’s Merry Farm! If you’ve never experienced it, you’re in for a grand time. There’s always a lot of extra stuff going on around the park during this time, so let’s dig in. First off, the park is decorated everywhere. Ribbons, wreaths, snow, nutcrackers, reindeer, the works. Everything is absolutely festive.…
A key part of what makes Southern California great is the abundance of Halloween events. If you thought Knott’s Scary Farm and Halloween Horror Nights was all that mattered, you’d be mistaken. Halloween conventions like Midsummer Scream really put into perspective how many places around us all go all in for the spooky season. Another major player is Six Flags Magic Mountain. Fright Fest has been running since 1993, so this isn’t something new for them. This year, they have 8 mazes and 9 scare zones, so let’s dive in and see how they turned out! It’s worth noting that…
Well, it’s that time of year. The days are getting shorter, the nights are becoming muggier, and the monsters are awakening from their graves to haunt that cursed land in Buena Park, California. If you followed along as we covered last month’s Nightmares Revealed event, you’d have a good idea of what to expect at Knott’s Scary Farm, but how was the execution? Let’s find out together! First off, all the scare zones returned, and that’s absolutely perfect. Every zone matches its area perfectly. They’re all distinct, filled with wonderful costumed monsters, and we can’t imagine swapping any of them…
Not since 2018 have John Murdy and Michael Aiello shared the stage at Midsummer Scream. This year, they began with a Q&A from questions submitted from X/Twitter, and that led into a deep dive into their Terrifier maze, joined by the creators of the hit franchise. For the Q&A portion, they explained that Terrifier and Five Nights at Freddy’s came to be because of years of fan demand. They expected that FNAF would’ve been impossible to do correctly, but they had help from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. Beyond that, a question about the crossover of local HHN icons, like Orlando’s…
Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor has returned for 2025, titled Summoned by the Seas, and marks the second year it has been run by 13th Floor. The Village, a long-standing part of the footprint of the event, has finally been demolished and removed. It was neglected for years and became too much of a liability to keep standing. However, this has led to a much larger usable area for the event this year, titled the Shipyard. The VIP lounge will be held here, and it’ll be a prime spot for watching all the shows on the nearby stage. All five of the…
Announced proudly from Midsummer Scream this August, the team behind Fright Fest at Six Flags Magic Mountain revealed everything coming to scare us this fall. Last year was an attempt at going “Extreme,” which was intended to spread to the other Six Flags parks, but the merger with Cedar Fair likely threw a wrench into a lot of those plans, as they work on a way to handle Fright Fest and Haunt between their dozens of parks. For the licensed mazes, we have three of the IP-based ones returning, being The Conjuring Universe, SAW: Legacy of Terror, and Trick ‘r…
With only weeks before the start of the Halloween season, the Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group detailed what’s coming to all of their Southern California attractions at Midsummer Scream. The Magic of the Jack O’ Lanterns returns with a new location this year, at the botanical gardens in Rancho Palos Verdes. There’s a new Enchanted Hollow area, using the latest in technology to make it feel more alive. And because of the new layout of these gardens, the trail is now twice as long, around a mile in length now. Delusion is also returning, this time at the Variety Arts Theater…
It’s that time of year when the fog rolls in, bringing with it the Green Witch and the curses she spreads throughout Knott’s Scary Farm. This past Tuesday, the Boulet Brothers joined us to unveil all the terrifying attractions that will keep us scared well into the night. First off the bat, all the scare zones are returning. It’s a comfort announcement at this point. Virtually all of the park, save for Fiesta Village is encompassed by the fog, and each zone has their own established legacy now. Replacing or taking away is a tough pill to swallow. Even the…
