AT D23 EXPO 2017, DISNEY PARKS CHAIRMAN BOB CHAPEK ANNOUNCES E-TICKET GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY ATTRACTION COMING TO EPCOT -- Looking ahead to the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World, Disney Parks Chairman Bob Chapek announced exciting plans across Epcot to realize the original vision of the park while making it more timeless and relevant than ever before, including a brand-new E-ticket attraction based on the rockin’ and action-packed world of Guardians of the Galaxy.

Disney has confirmed at the D23 Expo Parks & Resorts Panel that a “Guardians of the Galaxy”-inspired attraction will be added to Future World in Epcot.

The brand new E-ticket attraction will replace the Universe of Energy, which will close on August 13, 2017.

This will be the first Marvel attraction located in Walt Disney World since their acquisition of the brand back in 2012.

No word as to what type of ride the attraction will be, or what the story line is – but it was teased that Peter Quill (aka Star Lord) actually visited Epcot as a kid.

Also unknown is what exactly this means in relation to the contract between Universal Parks and Marvel; as to whether a deal was announced between the two companies or anything else.

Guardians of the Galaxy attraction is set to open in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort in 2021.
